His work spans renewable energy generation, energy efficiency programs, energy innovation and grid optimization. He also advises businesses and governments on strategies for integrating clean energy solutions into existing systems, ensuring sustainable and scalable results. Governments Arjan Visser has extensive experience working with governments at various levels. Internationally, he has collaborated with governments in the context of international energy development projects, focusing on sustainable energy solutions for emerging markets. At the European level, he has engaged with the European Commission on initiatives aimed at advancing energy transition and sustainability goals. Nationally, he has received funding to pilot a project on fair trade, funded through a subsidy from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). More recently, he has worked within a municipal government, providing strategic guidance on local energy transition projects and sustainable development. International (Energy) Development With a strong background in international energy development, Arjan has managed projects across Southeast Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. As an Investment Manager at the European DFI Management Company, he oversaw sustainable energy investments in emerging markets, fostering economic growth while addressing energy poverty. His work has contributed to improving energy access in underserved communities, combining technical expertise with an understanding of local contexts and global energy challenges. Entrepreneurship/Startups Arjan Visser has a proven track record as an entrepreneur and innovator. As the founder of Electricity4all in Malawi, an award-winning initiative developed in collaboration with BBOXX, he introduced energy kiosks that provided affordable and sustainable energy solutions to remote areas, transforming energy access for underserved populations. The project attracted the involvement of Stanford University, which conducted research on the socio-economic impact of energy kiosks in rural communities. Arjan also played a key role at Fibr8, where he contributed to strategy development and scaling efforts, helping the organization expand its impact in the lighting industry. Additionally, he successfully piloted an innovative concept in fair trade, exploring new ways to enhance transparency and sustainability in global supply chains. |
